Kristal DeSantis, LMFT is a certified PREPARE/Enrich pre-marital counselor, a certified Brief Systems Therapist,and is trained in Gottman Marital Therapy methods and EMDR. She has served on the board of the Austin Marriage and Family Therapy Association as Outreach Director since 2016 and is a clinical member of both

the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT)

and the Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (TAMFT).

 

Kristal obtained her Associates License in Marriage and Family Therapy from the Texas State Board of Health and Human Services in November, 2014 with Brad Kennington, LPC-S, LMFT-S as her supervisor. In September 2017, Kristal also began supervision and consultation with Claudia Thompson, LPC-S, LMFT-S, AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, and IITAP Sex Addiction Therapist and received her full LMFT license in March, 2018.

In July 2018, Kristal was part of a special grant program through Austin Police Department to receive EMDR training for PTSD and Trauma.

 

Her specialties include: Couples’ Therapy (including desire discrepancy/ out of control sexual behaviors/recovery from infidelity), EMDR for trauma and PTSD recovery, Gottman Marital Therapy, PREPARE/Enrich Premarital Counseling, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, STRONG model of Relational Therapy, Conflict and Communication skill-building for high conflict couples, Working with US Veterans, First Responders and hyper-masculine men around emotional regulation and healing from attachment trauma.

Kristal DeSantis received her Bachelor of Arts degree in PR/Communications from William Peace University in Raleigh, NC and her Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.

She is married to a US Marine Corps Veteran who is currently working as a firefighter and paramedic. Kristal also volunteers her time as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and Guardian Ad Litem with the Family Court system through CASA of Travis County.
